Fasting is a form of Humility. The following scriptures are reasons why we are fasting.
Daniel 1:5-21 – Benefits of fasting; look better and receive wisdom from God.
Judges 20:26-28 – Fasting is a time to seek God for answers.
I Samuel 7:3-9 – Fasting is a time to confess our sins.
II Samuel 1:11&12 – Fasting to get an understanding.
II Samuel 12:18-23 – After fasting it is a time for worship.
I Kings 21:20-29 – Fasting to find mercy from God.
Ezra 8:21-23 – Fasting to seek God for the right way.
Jonah 3:1-10 – Fasting to show humility so that God can change His mind from harsh intent.
